Federal Funding Plans

overview

  • Gates Chili Central School District received federal stimulus funds to support student needs related to COVID-19. This temporary influx of funds totals $10,080,527 for Gates Chili CSD to spend by September 2024. The purpose of these Federal Stimulus funds are to support the district moving through and out of the pandemic.

In 2021, the district collected public input to develop plans for use of these funds under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) and the American Rescue Plan (ARP). Those initial plans are posted on this webpage.

Since those plans were created, circumstances have changed slightly and we need your input. As part of the regulations, any modification to the ARP plan requires public input. Therefore, we are asking that you please complete the survey linked here by Feb. 23, 2024 at 5 p.m.

What are the changes?

  • Initially, CRRSA funds were set aside to replace rooftop HVAC units and ARP funds were set aside for classroom furniture purchases. CRRSA funds were required to be spent by Sept. 30, 2023 and ARP funds by Sept. 30, 2024.

Unfortunately, labor and supply shortages did not allow us to receive and install the rooftop HVAC units in time to meet the CRRSA requirements, so the district purchased classroom furniture that was outlined in the ARP spending plan and used CRRSA funds for those instead. ARP funds will now be used to purchase and install the rooftop HVAC units that were identified in the CRRSA spending plan.

Essentially, the district is planning to still purchase the same items as originally intended by simply swapping the spending between grants. See table below.
