American Diabetes Association (ADA)
ADA has a number of ways you can help volunteer. Volunteers are needed at Camp Rainbow in Honeoye Falls, the ADA New York Area’s Camp (a residential camp for children with diabetes held on the Rotary Sunshine Campus in Rush), for the Tour de Cure, the School Walk for Diabetes and in many more ways. Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI Goodwill Industries)
ABVI has some wonderful volunteer opportunities for you! Cameron Community Opportunities
Cameron Community Ministries is an ecumenical urban community center, located in Northwest Rochester. There are volunteer opportunities working with elementary children after school and in the Summer Safe Haven Program. Must be 16 years or older to volunteer. The After School Program runs Monday - Thursday 3:30-5:00, October - May. Duties would include tutoring, playing with the kids, help with reading, lead crafts and physical activities and keep the area neat and safe.
Camp Good Days and Special Times
Volunteers strive to improve the quality of life for children and adults who are diagnosed with cancer and other life challenges. There are a variety of ways to volunteer at Camp Good Days such as: being a counselor at one of the camping programs during the summer, the Gala Event in Buffalo, the Tournament of Love, Teddi “T” Sports Fest and more. Camp Haccamo
Camp Haccamo provides a camping experience for individuals who might not have the opportunity to go to other traditional residential camps. They provide enriching summer fun activities as well as high quality care for children and young adults with developmental disabilities in the Monroe County area. Foodlink
There are different opportunities for different types of volunteers. You can be part of a group or volunteer individually. The Kids Café program needs volunteers, 14 years old and up, to help serve meals and assist kids in activities. The program is Monday through Friday from 2 pm to 5pm. High School students can also do community service days that coincide with scheduled school days off. The Friends of the Gates Public Library is an association of volunteers who undertake various projects to help the library. Membership is $5.00. Gilda’s Club Rochester New York
Gilda’s Club provides a meeting place for men, women and children living with cancer, along with their family and friends. Volunteers are an integral part of the Gilda’s Club community and are involved in every aspect of the club from workshops and lectures to office work, and from outreach projects to clean up projects. Volunteer opportunity at RMSC for students ages 14-17Curiosity Camp Youth Volunteers (ages 14-17) are essential to the educational mission of the Rochester Museum & Science Center's (RMSC) Curiosity Camps. Youth Volunteers are energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking. They support paid staff in the camp classrooms by helping the campers with a wide variety of projects and activities. They assist with science experiments and with preparing the classroom and supplies each day. Youth volunteers help provide a fun and safe camp experience while sharing in the exploration of science!- Summer Curiosity Camps run weekly from June 29–Aug. 24, 2020
- Volunteers can work a maximum of all 9 weeks but must commit to a minimum of at least 2 weeks of volunteering during the summer.
- Volunteers choose the weeks they would like to volunteer depending on camp topic preferences, family vacation schedule, etc. and will be scheduled for those weeks accordingly.
- Scheduled weeks do not need to be consecutive, but volunteers must be available Monday through Friday of the chosen weeks
- Volunteers must work 8:30am to 4:30pm, but may arrive as early as 8am and stay as late as 5:30pm
- Attend New Volunteer Information Session and additional training sessions
Qualifications- No prior volunteer experience is necessary
- Volunteers must be 14-17 years old
- Have experience working with young children and in positions of responsibility
- Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team
- Have an interest in the sciences, technology, history and/or the arts
- Have personal access to regularly check an email account (all communication and scheduling is done via email)

Seneca Park Zoo
The ZooTeen Program is a summer program for 13-18 year olds Education Volunteers. They assist with a variety of programs offered by the zoo such as: BugZoo, zoo camps, face painting, special events, serve as the Zoo’s mascot, Rocky the Penguin, and more. You must be able to work 1 full day per week and work ½ day every other weekend. There is a program fee of $60 (fee subject to change). Other volunteer opportunities are Breakfast with Santa at the Zoo and ZooBoo – Annual Halloween Event at the Zoo. Sojourner House
Located in Rochester’s 19th Ward neighborhood, Sojourner House provides transitional housing for women and children in crisis who are committed to rebuilding their lives. Students who are 16 years of age or older may volunteer for the In-House Children’s Program. Students need to commit to one weeknight (Monday-Thursday) from 7:00-8:30 pm to plan and/or implement the evening’s activities for the children. Throughout the year, there are other one time volunteer opportunities such as picnics or holiday parties. St. John’s Nursing Home

- Time commitment: 8 weeks program, 3-4 hours per week (July 8th through September 1st, 2020)
