Immunizations

  • Public Health Law, Section 2164, requires all pupils to be immunized against the following diseases:

-DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis and Tetanus) 4 doses

-DT or TD needs to be updated every 10 years

     -Polio (3 to 4 doses)

     -Mumps (1dose)

     -Rubella (1dose)

     -Measles (2doses)

     -Hepatitis B (3 doses)

-Varicella or Proof of Chicken Pox (2 doses)

-Tdap(Tetanus, Diptheria, Acellular Pertussis) for students entering 6th grade and 11 years of age or older

    -Meningitis (see below)

    Immunization Requirements:

According to recent NY State Law, all students entering 7th and 12th grades  will be required to receive the Meningococcal Meningitis vaccine. The ACIP recommends that all adolescents receive a 1st dose of the vaccine at 11-12 years of age, and a booster dose at age 16 years. If the 1st dose was administered on or after the 16th birthday, a booster dose is not necessary. Please check with your child's pediatrician to be sure that this requirement has been met.
