Meet Miss Daniel
Christine "Jackie" Daniel, (I am called by my middle name)
I am very happy to be teaching in the Gates Chili School District! I grew up right here in Rochester and attended Gates Chili Middle and High School. I have many fond memories of playing music with the bands, going to solo fest, playing with the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra on flute and marching band in high school. It is very special to offer this experience back to my current students.
After high school I studied music education at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. In addition to learning flute performance extensively, I learned about all the instruments and how to teach general music. I finished a Masters in Music Education at Nazareth College in 2003.
This school year will be my 15th year teaching. In the last 14 years I taught general music k-5, elementary band, middle school general music, middle school band, and high school instrumental lessons. Now I am teaching 5 sections of general music and in charge of the instrumental program at Brasser.
One of my favorite areas of music education is teaching with Orff Schulwerk principles and Kodaly also. Movement and creativity are high on my priority list.
My husband (Keith Cona) and I own a home in Chili and share our love for running. We have done two marathons together. I am interested in all things gardening, fitness, nutrition, spending time with family, and getting involved with my church. We have two children who are also Gates Chili Spartans!
I love teaching music, especially at Gates Chili. I am truly blessed to have this career and thankful to be doing something I love each day. It is exciting to start at a new school and look forward to meeting all of my new students.
