Music - Mrs. Wakeman & Mrs. Simonetti
All general music students sing, play instruments, listen, create, move, dance, and improvise in order to learn and internalize musical concepts. Social skills such as sharing, taking turns, helping and leading others are also emphasized. These skills are taught by our music teachers, Mrs. Simonetti and Mrs. Wakeman.
Chorus focuses on musical development, movement skills, self expression, respect, discipline and team work.
The Paul Road Chorus is for all 4th and 5th grade students who want to learn more about music, singing, and performing! Each grade level rehearses together as a team once each week after school from 3:30 to 4:15 in the music room to learn how to make beautiful music together. 4th grade singers meet on Tuesdays and 5th grade singers will meet on Thursday. Our combined choruses perform in both Winter (December) and Spring (May) concerts. Near concert time, 4th and 5th grade singers will meet together. We’ll have fun learning and performing a variety of music! Parents – did you know that there are many studies linking singing with success in other subjects in school? Joining chorus now provides your son and/or daughter the opportunity to be part of many rewarding musical experiences both here at Paul Road and beyond! ?
The Paul Road Instrumental Music Program is open to all interested students in 4th and 5th grades under the direction of Mrs. Sinmonetti. Students receive a small group lesson each week, and after sufficient progress has been made, they are invited to participate in the Paul Road Band. Band rehearsals are twice a week, in addition to the weekly lesson. The Band performs for the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and Flag Day celebrations at Paul Road School. Visit Mrs. Simonetti's Band Page to learn more.
