Meet Ms. Fleming
Hi! My name is Ms. Kim Fleming and this is my fourth year at Florence Brasser as the AIS teacher, and my sixth year of teaching!
Before beginning my teaching career, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from SUNY Geneseo. I met many students, particularly in special education, who struggled with reading. This inspired me to immediately start my Master's degree at Nazareth College to become certified as a Literacy Specialist (Birth-Grade 6). Before coming to Brasser, I taught preschool at a rural Head Start Program. I have also worked as a consultant special education teacher and Gifted and Talented teacher.
It is very rewarding to see the growth that my students have made over the last three years, and to know them so well! I hope to instill a love of reading in all of my students, and work hard to teach them research-based literacy strategies.
I've been very busy, but enjoy the time I get to spend with my friends and family. When I'm not working, I am usually trying to decorate my house and clean up my yard. I have a very naughty Yellow Lab mix named Sunkist, so I try to take him on lots of adventures to keep him out of trouble! I adopted him from Rudy's Rescue over a year ago.
Some of my favorite things:
1. Shopping 2. Chocolate 3. Learning 4. Astrology
