Meet the Teacher
I received my degree in Music Education from Florida State University where I also studied Jazz Performance. I have taught in Tallahassee and Orlando, Florida, as well as Leominster, Massachusetts and now Rochester, New York, which is where I grew up. I have taught K-5 General Music, Chorus, Elementary, Middle School and High School band, as well as Jazz Bands at the middle school and high school levels. Bands I have worked with in the past have received Superior Ratings at both the District and State Level Festivals in Florida, most notably the Winter Springs High School Wind Ensemble and the Seminole High School Jazz Band.
This is my first year teaching at Walt Disney Elementary School, the same school I attended as a child growing up in Rochester. I am a graduate of Gates Chili where I played in the Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Percussion Ensemble. As a young student I attended the Eastman Community Music School where I played with the Eastman Youth Jazz Orchestra and took classes and private lessons. Although it is my first year teaching in Rochester, I do consider myself very familiar with this community and the musical opportunities available to its youth.
Outside of teaching, I am a freelance musician playing gigs, generally on saxophone or piano, around New York. I play at the Xerox International Rochester Jazz Festival as well as many other shows in the local area. I work with pit orchestras playing for musicals and I teach private lessons for students on many instruments.
