Reading

  •

Families play a vital role in helping children become proficient readers. Reading just fifteen minutes a day makes a huge difference! If you find that you need books, please contact me, and I would be happy to help you. Here are some tips to make the most out of reading at home.

    • Set aside a specific time for reading so that it becomes part of your daily routine

    • Alternate between reading to your child, having your child read, and sharing the reading together.

    • Have your child use the pictures to tell the story either before or after your read a book.

    • Choose 1 or 2 of the following questions to ask your child:

      • What was your favorite part of the story and why?
      • Who was your favorite character? Why do you like them?
      • What does this story remind you of?
      • Does this remind you of another story we have read?
      • Show me the picture you like the best and talk about it.
      • What is the title of this story? Who is the author? Who is the illustrator? What did each of them do to make the book?

MOST OF ALL, ENJOY SPENDING TIME TOGETHER AND GROWING!
